"Geology holds the keys of one of the kingdoms of nature; and it cannot be said that a science which extends our Knowledge, and by consequence our Power, over a third part of nature, holds a low place among intellectual employments."

William Buckland (1784 - 1856)

WELCOME

The Belgian Council for Earth Sciences (RAW-CST) was founded in 1990 and beared the statute of non-profit association since 1996. In 2023 the board decided to become a factual organisation. The RAW-CST is a scientific organisation as well as  a consultative body, in which a large number of Belgian geo-scientific associations reside. Their aim is to promote, defend, and encourage (citizen) geo-sciences in an ethical, moral and scientific manner:

DEONTOLOGICAL CODE OF ETHICS

The articles of this code describe how the amateur geologist and collectors of geological objects should behave in the field, how a private collection should be managed and which techniques can be used to prepare specimens for scientific research.
